About camping in the Peak District
The Peak District National Park covers about 555 square miles across parts of Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, South Yorkshire, and West Yorkshire — making it the most centrally located National Park in England and accessible to around 16 million people within an hour's drive. The park is divided into the Dark Peak (gritstone moorland, blanket bog, and gritstone edges) to the north and the White Peak (limestone plateau, dry valleys, and ancient lead-mining villages) to the south.
